Under the hood, ChatPVT runs on Matrix (opens in a new tab) and doorsOS; together they keep your conversations private, portable, and yours. Each room sets its own encryption and access, so you decide who can read, who can join, and where the room lives.
Private
Privacy you set, room by room. Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted by default. Group rooms can be locked tight for sensitive work, left open for discovery, or shared with trusted guests.
Open
Built on Matrix (opens in a new tab) - a public standard, not a private platform. Your conversations are not locked inside one company, and your account is yours to move.
European
Designed with ♥ in East London, hosted in the EU. Your data lives in European data centres, under a privacy model your team can explain in plain English.
How it compares
They may not read the message. They can still monetise the pattern around it
Some apps encrypt your messages, but still collect surrounding signals to serve ads: who you are, who you talk to, what you follow, what device you use, where you connect from, and how you behave across the platform.
ChatPVT is built differently. It may use limited operational signals to keep the service safe, reliable, and useful - but not to sell advertising. There is no advertising incentive, no Big Tech owner, EU-hosted infrastructure, and an open federated protocol that no single company controls.
